MUMBAI: The Walt Disney Company (India) has appointed DR Akhil Prasad as director legal and senior counsel. This was announced by The Walt Disney Company, India MD Rajat Jain. Prasad will be based in Mumbai.

As the lead lawyer for The Walt Disney Company in India, Prasad will be responsible for the addressal of legal issues affecting all Disney businesses in India. He will advise the country head and other key members of management team, track legislation, analyze current trends and assess future legal trends working closely with Disney’s global legal teams.

"Akhil possesses a good understanding of our business space along with the needs of global organizations operating in the Indian market; and is well equipped to handle issues of corporate legal compliance for our businesses in India. Akhil’s experience and expertise will be crucial to Walt Disney Company’s initiatives in India," said Jain.

Prasad joins Disney India with diverse and comprehensive experience from various industries in the legal and secretarial aspects. His most recent assignment was with General Motors India as head of legal and secretarial.

Prior to that, he was with Electrolux Kelvinator Limited, Modicorp Ltd, Graphtech India LTD, Modi Xerox Financial Services LTD, Filaments India LTD and Essar Gujarat Ltd.
