NEW DELHI: Paytm’s VP - marketing Jaskaran Singh Kapany has called it quits after nearly six years at the fintech company.
With Kapany moving on, VP - product marketing Abhinav Kumar has been given the additional responsibility to handle the marketing portfolio for now, according to media reports.
Kapany has been instrumental in making Paytm one of the top payments brands in India and has helped scale the app's user base. He has also brokered partnership deals with BCCI Cricket, IPL, etc to take Paytm to the masses as part of a structured marketing strategy.
He has also helped build Paytm's offline QR payments/ money transfer/ mobile recharges/ bill payments businesses.
While Paytm was a big beneficiary of demonetisation (its Paytm karo has become a byword for online/digital transactions) enacted by the government four years ago, Kapany has ensured that the brand has continued to be relevant well after. Last September, it launched a fresh marketing campaign to highlight the capability to pay using its app from any QR code. Kapany then followed this up in January 2020 with a campaign directed at retailers, aiming to market the ease of use and interoperability of its QR code.
Prior to his stint at Paytm, Kapany was VP - marketing and e-commerce at ICICI Prudential Life where he spearheaded all national brand-building and consumer initiatives.
