Gujarat to curb under reporting the manual way

ITV

MUMBAI: The Narendra Modi government in Gujarat has come up with a unique solution to the problem of under declaration of subscribers by cable ops.

It will conduct a manual count, using youth seeking gainful employment. The Times of India has reported that from 15 September, youth in each district will count the cable connections employing a door to door survey. For each count made, the person concerned will earn one rupee.

It is estimated that the Gujarat government loses around 30 million rupees every year as 3-400,000 connections have not been reported, the report says. The operator pays a fee of six rupees to the government per connection as entertainment tax. The report states that there are 400 sub cable operators working under 15 cable operators.
