    MUMBAI: English News Channel Times Now will air ?The Foodie Awards 2013? on 9 February at 6 pm.

    Kent RO is the presenting sponsor of the event.

    The show will repeat telecast on 10 February at 2 pm and 10 pm.

    The third edition of ?Kent RO presents The Foodie Awards?, held on 2 February, honoured the best amongst those food establishments that the jury had hand-picked by travelling across the length and breadth of the country. The jury visited over 30 food establishments for a detailed culinary experience choosing winners under 12 award categories.

    Joining Kunal Vijayakar in the jury panel were three renowned food connoisseurs -- Rashmi Uday Singh, Kripal Amanna and Priya Paul.

    ET now, Times now and Zoom CEO Avinash Kaul said, "Times Now has just completed its seventh anniversary and Foodie has been an integral part of the channel for all these years. The Foodie Awards have been an appetising extension to the show and in its third edition this year has raised the bar to recognise and honour the best cuisine destinations across the length and breadth of this country."

    The show was hosted by Kunal Vijayakar and Tisca Chopra.

    MUMBAI: English news channel Times Now is all set to air the ?Amazing Indians Awards? on 26 January.

    The awards in association with Mahindra honour people who have achieved success through their grit to bring about change in society.

    The event was held in New Delhi recently. It will air on 26 January at 7 pm and repeat telecast on 27 January at 9.30 pm.

    The winners were selected from a list of 56 nominees through a rigorous screening process by a panel of judges including Dr. Devi Shetty, Sharmila Tagore, Sudhir Dhar, Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major and Prasoon Joshi.

    India vice-president Hamid Ansari was present as the chief guest.

    Times Television Network managing director and chief executive officer Sunil Lulla described ?Amazing Indians? as a breath of fresh air ?in the rushing midst of breaking news?.

    This year the ?Amazing Indians awards? added two more categories to the roster making it a total of 13 categories. "Together we can" honors individuals from different walks of life, who have come together to create a movement and assist others in need. ?Indian at heart" awards Indians living internationally who have come back to the county to make a difference.

    MUMBAI: Akash Banerjee has been appointed as the programming head of Radio Mirchi?s Delhi station. This is Banerjee?s second stint with the radio station, the first being in 2002 as a radio jockey where he used to host the late night show ?Dil Chahta Hai?.

    As programming head, Banerjee will be responsible for conceptualising the station programming in accordance with the brand vision and Delhi?s pulse and flavour.

    Banerjee said, "I am happy to be a part of the ENIL Group again. Radio Mirchi is the leading FM station in the country and a station that believes in innovations. I am thrilled to be part of such an iconic brand and look forward to new challenges and responsibilities."

    Prior to joining Radio Mirchi he was was a correspondent with Headlines Today for five years. Before that, he was an anchor at Times Now. In his ten years? experience as part of the broadcast industry, Banerjee has covered a diverse range of stories from locations across the nation. Besides specialising in disaster and conflict reporting and anchoring, he has also released a book titled ?Tales from Shining and Sinking India? that draws from his experiences on the field.

  • Govt issues 23 notices to TV channels in a year

    NEW DELHI: Despite both news and general entertainment channels having set up their own regulatory bodies, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry issued 23 notices to various TV channels during 2011 and January this year.

    All these notices were issued for showing obscenity and violence.

    Government sources denied reports that any channel had gone to Court against the notices issued.

    While the matter was under consideration at various stages, warnings or advisories had been issued to the other channels and four of them (Bindass, News 9, Sahara Samay and P7) were even asked to run apology scrolls. In only MTV?s case, the channel was let off after reviewing the programme.

    The notices included only four notices to news channels: News 9, Times Now, Sahara Samay, and P7.

    In the general entertainment channels, four notices were issued to Bindass, two each to Sony TV and Channel ?V?, and one each to Sony Pix, Zee Trendz, MTV, TLC, People Live, FX Channel, NDTV Good Times, Star World, Fox Crime, and FTV;and Enter 10 which is the only channel to have received a notice in 2012.

  • Ayesha Surty joins Times TV Network as Head of syndication and digital revenues

    MUMBAI: Times Television Network has appointed Ayesha Surty as Head, syndication and digital revenues.

    Surty will be based out of Mumbai and will focus on building relationships and maximising revenue opportunities with content and brand presence across platforms. She will report to Zoom and ET Now CEO Avinash Kaul.

    Kaul said, ?Times Television Network has a significant presence across digital platforms and content syndication. Content of the network channels is deployed across all major digital platforms and to various national and international broadcasters. Ayesha?s joining the network will take business to the next level ensuring that our rich content is made accessible to as many people across the globe through all possible platforms.?

    Surty added, ?Times Television Network with leadership brands of Times Now, ET Now, Movies Now and Zoom has incredible content which can be very effectively channelized to bring in revenue through varied tie-ups and associations.?

    Surty comes with over 12 years of experience. Her last assignment was with Imagine TV as the associate director ? content sales and digital media.
