Mumbai: The 68 Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2023 with Maharashtra Tourism, is all set to be a celebration of the artistry and ingenuity of filmmakers, actors, and artists. Gearing up for the biggest awards night of the year with high-calibre performances, Filmfare unveils the illustrious list of nominations to recognise the best in Hindi cinema, for the year 2022. The award night will be held in honour with a live on-ground show on 27 April 2023, at the Jio World Convention Centre, BKC in Mumbai.
Celebrating the finest of Hindi cinema, this year’s grand event will witness some of the greatest acts, stellar wins and stimulating performances. Leading the pack with an astounding 16 nominations across categories is Gangubai Kathiawadi, a biographical film that tells the riveting tale of a woman’s rise to power in Mumbai’s red-light district. This is followed by the movie Badhaai Do, with a whopping 15 nominations, which is a story of a couple caught in a lavender marriage. Also, the Ranbir-Alia starrer, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva and horror-comedy, Bhediya, starring Varun Dhawan – both get 14 & 13 nominations respectively are in the race of taking home the coveted Black Lady. Vying to win big, films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Lal Singh Chaddha, and Vikram Vedha have received a total of 10, 09, and 08 nominations, respectively.
Some of the most dynamic and talented actors are all ready to go head-to-head in the race to bag the top honours in the categories of Leading Role (Male) and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female). For the former, Amitabh Bachchan (Uunchai), Ajay Devgn (Drishyam 2), Anupam Kher (The Kashmir Files), Hrithik Roshan (Vikram Vedha), Kartik Aaryan (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2) and Rajkummar Rao (Badhaai Do) have been nominated. For the latter, Kareena Kapoor Khan (Lal Singh Chaddha), Tabu (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2), Alia Bhatt (Gangubai Kathiawadi), Bhumi Pednekar (Badhaai Do) and Janhvi Kapoor (Mili) will be fiercely competing to win the top spot. Through its three broad categories – Popular Awards, Critics’ Awards, and Technical Awards, Filmfare will be acknowledging and celebrating the achievements of the cast and the crew as well.
