Earth Matters, a weekly programme covering India's environmental issues currently telecast on Doordarshan, has been adjudged the best science magazine programme - Le Prix du Magazine - at the International Television Science Programme Festival held at the Eiffel Tower on 3 October 2001.
The festival, being held since the past 18 years, showcases the world's best work in the science entertainment arena. Earth Matters is backed by dedicated talent. Renowned filmmaker Mike Pandey directs the show and co-anchors it with Shibani Chaudhury. The production team is supported by veteran technicians Lalman and Rajinder Pratap.
The show is produced by Rita Banerjee. Shibani and Rita both hail from Assam and are India's first women wildlife filmmakers. They even double up as editor and scriptwriter-cum-assistant director respectively, for the show.
Earth Matters is telecast at 6 am on Wednesdays on DD's News and Current Affairs channel.
