MUMBAI: ?Mad Men?s streak of winning best drama at the Emmy awards came to an end when it was beaten by ?Homeland?. However ?Modern Family? fought off competition to win Best Comedy for the third year in a row.

?Homeland? was a big winner with actors Claire Danes and Damien Lewis also winning awards. On the comedy side, Julia Louis-Dreyfus won for ?Veep? while Jon Cryer won for ?Two And a Half Men?. Lewis beat Bryan Cranston of ?Breaking Bad? who had won three Emmy Awards in the past.

Danes thanked the show?s cast, and husband Hugh Dancy: "My husband, my love, my life, my baby daddy. I couldn?t do anything without you. I love you so much and I am so grateful. it?s way cool that Barack Obama is a fan of the show. It speaks to the relevancy of the show and it?s hugely validating."

Alex Gansa, one of ?Homeland?s executive producers said, "I want to start by congratulating Showtime on its first best-series Emmy ever. It?s been a long time coming, and Homeland stands on the shoulders of a lot of great shows over there: Dexter, Weeds, Nurse Jackie, among them all."

?Modern Family? actors Eric Stonestreet and Julie Bowen won.

For the 10th time ?The Daily Show? hosted by Jon Stewart won an Emmy for variety show. ?The Amazing Race? won for reality show.
