• Televisi?n Espaola returns to MipTV in Cannes

    MUMBAI: Televisi?n Espa?ola will be back at the television MipTV in Cannes, represented by RTVE?s Commercial Department.

    Once again, Televisi?n Espa?ola?s programmes and channels (TVE Internacional and 24 Horas) will be showcased at this prestigious international market. Led by its Sales team, RTVE will present the historical series ?Isabel? as one of the main cornerstones of its strategy.

    This fictional series recreates the reign of Isabella I of Castile, one of the most important women in Spain.

    Another show in the fiction category, ?Vintage?, tells the secrets, romances and betrayals of two wine-making families from La Rioja: the Cort?zars and the Revertes. The prequel will be coming soon to TVE?s daily afternoon slot. ?Vintage: Origin?, currently in production, is a series set 45 years before ?Vintage? that will reveal the events leading up to the saga.
    Other series include ?Love in Difficult Times?, with over 1,700 episodes over the course of seven years on TVE, and ?Mom Detective?, a detective comedy based on the entertaining character of inspector Laura Lebrel.

    Once again, RTVE?s audiovisual catalogue will be present at MIPTV, which this year is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Televisi?n Espa?ola has attended this audiovisual market since its inception.

    MUMBAI: Television trade event MipTV has said that Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff, executive producers of drama "Homeland," will give a MipTV Media Mastermind Keynote on 8 April, presented in partnership with Keshet International.

    Organised by Reed Midem, MipTV 2013 will take place in Cannes, 8-11 April.

    Now in its second season on Showtime in the US, the Fox 21 production ?Homeland? won six Primetime Emmy awards, including the 2012 Outstanding Drama Series, and four Golden Globe awards, including the 2013 Best Television Drama Series. ?Homeland? is based on Keshet Broadcasting?s Israeli series "Hatufim-Prisoners of War."

    The show?s executive producer Howard Gordon first gained international attention for his award-winning work as executive producer of Fox?s series ?The X-Files?. From 2001 to 2010, Gordon was the showrunner and executive producer of ?24.?

    Before executive producing ?Homeland?, Gideon Raff created, wrote and directed ?Hatufim-Prisoners of War?, the Israel drama series. For his writing on ?Homeland? Raff received an Emmy award, a WGA award, an Edgar Allen Poe award, as well as a Peabody award.

    In front of the MipTV audience, Gordon and Raff will reveal the creative process behind the critically-acclaimed and ratings winning dramas, from conception to screen. They will discuss how these dramas have become hits around the world and what considerations were made in adapting an Israeli story for American TV, creating a hit twice-over. Gordon and Raff will be accompanied by Keshet?s VP of programming Ran Tellem, who oversaw one of TV?s most successful scripted adaptations from day one.

    MUMBAI: Television trade event MipTV has announced that Discovery president, CEO David Zaslav will present a keynote address on 9 April, as part of MipTV?s Media Mastermind keynotes series. Organised by Reed Midem, MipTV will take place in Cannes from 8-11 April, 2013.

    Zaslav sets the strategy and oversees all operations of the non-fiction media company that reaches more than 1.8 billion cumulative subscribers in nearly 220 countries and territories. Discovery is dedicated to igniting curiosity and delivering the thrill of discovery through more than 150 worldwide television networks and a leading portfolio of digital media properties that attract approximately 25 million unique visitors per month.

    At MipTV, Zaslav will discuss the global content environment, recent international M&A activity and his strategy for continued growth at the world?s largest pay-TV programmer.

    Prior to Discovery, Zaslav had a career at NBC Universal. In 2007, he received a Trustees Award for Lifetime Achievement from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Natas).

    Under Zaslav?s leadership, in September 2008 Discovery began trading as a public company on the Nasdaq stock exchange and has since delivered average double-digit profit growth over the past five years.
