BANGALORE: Verismo Networks has developed a client box which will be an integral part of the new age TV, including IPTV. The company has also designed a server box.
The software works like this: A separate client box with a separate operating remote control can be connected to the existing TV sets. This equipment can be used for sharing pictures, home videos, music, or even for gaming within a small group through internet.
A movie can be downloaded from a site onto the server which can be connected to a virtual neighborhood network comprising a TV with the client setup. It can be connected to another computer or even a mobile phone with the capabilities to receive and play it.
The Silicon Valley-based Verismo Networks has also announced investment of $ 2.5 mn from angel investor and tech entrepreneur Prakash Bhalerao and setting up of a product development and customer support centre here.
Most of Verismo's products would be completely designed and developed in its Bangalore centre, which currently engages over 100 engineers experienced in broadband.
