Malayalam film superstar Mammooty and Samyuktaverma have been adjuged best actor and actress respectively at the '2001-Lux Asianet Film Awards' announced on Thursday.
Last year's Mohalal-starrer, `Narasimham', has been selected as best film while Shaji Kailas, director of the film, gets the best director award, according to an Asianet release. The awards, worth Rs 125,000 each, comes with a citation and a plaque. It is the highest prize money awarded in Malayalam cinema, according to the release.
Mammooty gets the award for his role in `Arayanagaludy Veedu' while Samyuktaverma for `Mazha' and `Maduranobarakat'.
The other awards are: Yesudas (best playback singer), KS Chitra (best playback female singer), Raveedran (music director), Biju Menon (best supporting actor for 'Mazha'), KPAC Lalitha (best supporting actress for 'Santham'), and TV Chandran (best screenplay for 'Susana').
