On a bright summer's morning of 1944, Major Antoine de Saint-Exup'ry prepares to leave on a reconnaissance flight mission over occupied France. His plane, a lightning P 38, takes off from liberated Corsica to photograph German positions in the Annecy region. At 3.30 pm, with no hope now remaining, the French pilot is reported missing by an American officer.
