MUMBAI: The going has certainly not been easy for US broadcaster NBC. Faced with falling ratings for its presidential drama The West Wing the broadcaster has decided to discontinue the show after the seventh season.
In India the show airs on Zee Cafe.
In the US the last episode of the show airs on 14 May. Martin Sheen plays the American President. Putting on a brave face NBC Entertainment president Kevin Reilly says that the show stood out on account of its venerable, moving performances as well as the creative team behind the camera.
"The show has always offered viewers a realistic, behind-the-scenes peek into the Oval Office and the campaign trail that leads there."
The West Wing holds the record for most Emmys won by a series in a single season (its first) and has earned 90 nominations to date. NBC has to yet decide on how to slot the new season of Joey. The sitcom has failed to replicate the success of Friends.
