MUMBAI: Eutelsat has announced that the key sessions of the first World Electronic Media Forum (WEMF) will be broadcast live and free-to-air through its Hot Bird 6 satellite.
The satellite that serves television homes throughout Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. The WEMF will take place in Geneva from 9-12 December in conjunction with the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).
WEMF is taking place in Geneva Switzerland. It is being organised by the United Nations Department of Public Information (UNDPI) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). WEMF is a platform for television and radio broadcasters and the global viewing/listening public to assess current and future opportunities of media in the Information Society. The meet will have particular reference to the key role of media and television, universal access to information, freedom of expression, cultural diversity, economic development, social cohesion and education.
Prasar Bharati's K.S. Sarma is one of the many speakers. Eutelsat CEO Giuliano Berretta was quoted in an official release saying, "By assembling leading players in Geneva to debate electronic media, the WEMF places new digital technologies at the heart of the Information Society.
