MUMBAI: Prasar Bharati today said that Doodrashan’s Urdu channel is likely to go on air in the middle of 2006.

Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said today in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, that preparatory action was underway to finalise matters relating, inter-alia, to putting in place the requisite infrastructure, the format and content of the channel along with the requisite personnel.

He also stated that so far, no recruitment had been made for the new Urdu channel as a need for the same was not felt at present.
