MUMBAI: A move is afoot seeking to increase the popularity of viewing sports through the net in Europe. Uefa has announced that its 2004-05 uefa.com action broadband service will give football fans access to video and audio content from every match in this season's Uefa Champions League.

In addition there will be an archive that includes highlights of every game from the competition's history.

The service will also have a weekly magazine show featuring interviews with star players and profiles on key European club sides. In addition, a search facility which allows fans to locate video footage of players and teams as well as specific matches

'uefa.com action has been developed by Uefa New Media in partnership with RealNetworks and is available at uefa.com in six languages: English, Portuguese, French, German, Spanish and Italian.

UEFA New Media CEO Alexandre Fourtoy said, "The fact that over 75 per cent of visitors who accessed our euro2004.com site used a broadband connection highlights the rapidly developing market for multimedia content. The 'uefa.com action' service puts fans around the world in control of how and when they view the extensive coverage that is on offer."
