The men’s Hockey Champions Trophy, which begins on 4 December in Pakistan will be aired live and exclusive on Ten Sports. The teams participating are Pakistan, Germany, Holland, New Zealand, Spain and India. The live action during the matches will be on on the channel from 4 - 12 December.
Interestingly, India, which finished fourth in last year's Champions Trophy, was invited to participate in the tournament after Australia withdrew on security concerns.
"We’ve always believed that hockey evoked great interest and held potential in the country among other high profile sports like cricket and soccer," says Taj Television (India) Pvt. Ltd managing director Sharmista Rijhwani. She said that that was the reason Ten Sports has always promoted the game starting with the telecast of the Champions Trophy in September 2002, and has continued its commitment ever since. The game has been on the rise and the viewership ratings of hockey events on Ten Sports have mirrored the ever-rising popularity of hockey. We would like to end a great year of hockey on the channel with the live telecast of the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
