MUMBAI: Vissa TV, the Telugu channel from the Raj TV stable which launched a month ago, is lining up fresh programming from August to boost its viewership.
From the first week of August, the channel will be launching four daily soaps. Slated for launch around the middle of next month are a talk show and an additional news bulletin to the four bulletins being aired currently. Also in the pipeline is a talk show, Vadam Prativadam, that could begin airing around 15 August.
According to Vissa TV managing director K Ravindran, the channel basically targets the 20 to 40 year olds and hence has a substantial chunk of song and dance shows also built into the programming. Vissa has entered a space dominated by the formidable Gemini, ETV and DD's Telugu version, but Ravindran says the channel is picking up well in pockets of Andhra Pradesh and even in metros. A news bulletin has been added to the programming line up at 10.30 pm to meet the demand for news at that hour.
The Chennai-based company has already invested Rs 150 million on the Vissa project thus far and the company intends to incur a further Rs 200 to Rs 250 million in the coming years to acquire 250 films and create content, according to earlier reports.
