Mumbai: Colors Tamil, Viacom18’s Tamil entertainment channel, is all set to make Father’s Day weekend extra special with a bunch of specially curated movies. The channel brings sentimental hits as Sabhaapathy with Special Partner VCARE Trichology Hair Clinic, 60 Vayadu Maaniram with Special Partners VCARE Trichology Hair Clinic and The Eye Foundation Kan Marthuvamani, Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal and College Kumar.
Sabhaapathy (Santhanam) is the story of a young man with a speech order. He is very low on confidence as he is insulted by everybody, even more so by his own father, a principled retired teacher (MS Baskar). Even as he is desperately hunting for a job, he ends up with a suitcase filled with money. But the suitcase belonged to a corrupt politician, which turns his life upside down. Directed by R Srinivasa Rao, Sabhaapathy deeply loves his childhood friend and neighbour Savithri (Preeti Verma) but has difficulty expressing it to her. To make matters worse, her mother detests him. What happens when he gets Rs 20 crore makes the rest of the story. Does he overcome his handicap and wins over everybody, especially his father? 60 Vayadu Maaniram is a sensitive movie about the tender relationship between a father-son duo. Siva (Vikram Prabhu), an ambitious software engineer, leaves his father in an old age home to pursue his dream of landing an IT job abroad. Due to a mix-up at the old age home, the father (aptly played by Prakash Raj), who suffers from Alzheimer’s, goes missing. Worse, he is thrust into a murder scenario with Ranga, a gangster (Samuthrakani). Ranga’s boss orders him to clean up the mess and not leave any witnesses. But instead of killing him, Ranga sees the lighter side of life through Govindarajan’s (Prakash Raj) eyes and ends up becoming an ally. As Siva continues to search for his father, he gets unexpected help from a second person too, psychiatrist Dr Archana (Induja). Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal – The life of an angry young son, a disgruntled room attendant, an upcoming actor and an egoistic IT employee get interwoven after an incident. The film then takes us through the life-changing journey of each of them. Ashok Selvan is the angry young man who finally agrees to get married. His father (Nassar) is a forward-thinking old man who is entrusted with the task of handing out the wedding cards. The father takes the help of Manikandan, a neighbour, who is bedevilled with his own problems. Due to his carelessness, the father gets involved in a car accident and dies. Now, the car is being driven by Praveen, a brand-conscious IT professional. He and his wife Ritythvika (a wannabe fashion designer) are visiting their in-laws in Chennai just ahead of their permanent move to the US. Instead of helping the victim, Praveen flees from the scene. That is where Abi Hassan, an aspiring actor, enters. An alumnus of the New York Film Academy, and the son of a famous director (played by KS Ravikumar), he looking to make it big in the Tamil Industry on his own merit. He immediately steps in the help the victim but instead gets blamed for the accident. College Kumar is a remake of the 2017 hit Kannada movie by the same name. The story revolves around the dream of a peon, Thirumurugan (essayed by actor Prabhu), who dreams of making his son a successful auditor after being insulted by his boss.With an ensemble star-cast, including veteran Prabhu, Madhoo, and Nasser, the story takes an unexpected turn when his son Shiva Kumar (Rahul Vijay) is expelled from college after being accused of malpractice. The plot revolves around Thirumurugan’s quest to realise his desire. Watch only on Colors Tamil at 9:30 pm.
