MUMBAI: Zee's Bangla entertainment channel Alpha Bangla has decided to conclude its longest running soap Ek Akasher Niche. The prime time show has had a successfull run for five years. The final episode is scheduled to air on 28 January.
 
 

Ek Akasher Niche will be replaced by a new soap Ek Din Pratidin for the 8 pm slot. The show will kick off on 31 January.

Alpha Bangla conducted a farewell for Ek Akasher Niche on 21 January. The event Alpha Sourja was attended by the cast and crew of both the serials. An introduction of the new serial Ek Din Pratidin was presented during the occasion.
 
 

Produced by Beyond Reels, Ek Din Pratidin deals with a unique characteristic of Kolkata; the clash of values between the upcoming nouveau rich society of South Kolkata with the traditional aristocratic families of North Kolkata.

Bikram Ghosh, the acclaimed percussionist of international fame is the music director of Ek Din Pratidin. The common bonding of Ek Din Pratidin with Ek Akasher Niche is the same director Anindo Banerjee (who was the episode director of Ek Akash), the same scriptwriter duo - Aditi & Anuja and of course common actors, informs an official release.
