MUMBAI: While the talent hunt cum reality show Mission Everest has gone well with the audience, National Geographic is launching yet another reality show - Darkside of the Mountain. 

Starting tomorrow - 25 June, the niche infotainment channel from the Star bouquet will air dramatic rescue work every Wednesday at 8 pm.
 

 With the current sway of the niche programming being towards more real shows that offer extreme adrenaline rush, the dramatic and deadly rescues that the televised version has to offer fits the bill to T. Mission Everest has shown the five plucky Indian contestants being rigorously trained by the Indian Army to face the nature. Darkside of the Mountain, on the other hand, will disclose the worst-case scenarios- how the benign majesty can turn ugly. Audiences can witness the trials and tribulations of people faced by the dark side of the mountain.
 

The debut episode starts off with a panic call relayed to Search and Rescue (SAR) Headquarters from the furthest reaches of New Zealand's Mount Cook National Park. The episodes captures how the picturesque mountains, can turn nasty at a moment's notice and how the world renowned, professional search and rescue team readies itself to pick up the pieces and hope to rescue few lives. Tackling whiteout, howling gale and extreme conditions, the search party aims to get back the injured climber or find the lost party.

Every year, three or four hikers don't make it out of the mountains alive. The series follows the high season of rescue work in an alternately beautiful and dangerous environment.
