NEW DELHI: Close on the heels of the government giving a 90-day reprieve to Star News under a Transitory Arrangement clause in the new guidelines for TV channels uplinking news content from India, comes a "courtesy call". Star Group's head and one of the two sons of Rupert Murdoch, James Murdoch, is slated to meet information and broadcasting minister Ravi Shankar Prasad later today.
The agenda of the meeting is not being disclosed by the government. But it is expected that both the company and the government would later term it as a "goodwill visit".
Star had to undergo several days of anxiety before the guidelines for uplinking were formally announced on 26 March, subsequent to which Star News has started beaming its content under the full control of Star from 31 March.
