NEW DELHI; Ten Sports and other corporate sponsors can heave a sigh of relief. The Indo-Pak cricket series is on --- and on schedule.
Today morning, Star News, quoting external affairs minister Yashwant Sinha, said that the cricket series would be held as per the original itinerary. The final dates would be chalked out by the cricket boards of the two countries.
However, it is not clear what made the government change its mind as the home ministry was preaching against the tour before the general elections and deputy prime minister LK Advani had gone on record on the issue,
saying, apart from other things, that the security of the players was paramount.
Pakistan Cracker Board chief Shaharyar Khan welcomed the Indian government's move, the Star News channel said.
