Hyderabad DD Kendra wins World Bank award

MUMBAI: Hyderabad Doordarshan Kendra has bagged the prestigious Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) Award, sponsored by the World Bank, for a television feature that illustrates development issues and millennium development goals.

The feature produced by DD special correspondent Eamani Krishna Rao narrated the efforts of over 5,000 women members of the Deccan region who represent the poorest of the poor in their village communities, states an official release.

The programme highlights how women sanghams of Deccan Development Society brought back over 10,000 acre of degraded agricultural land and helped sustainable development.

The award would be presented to on 16 February at New Delhi during the CBA General Conference.
