MUMBAI: This is a move that should give CNN International more cachet among Taiwanese viewers. The new broadcaster has moved to Channel number five on cable systems in Taiwan. The move received the endorsement by the Government Information Office (GIO) and major system operators.

CNN International has stated that it is the only global news network that has secured a fixed position amongst the top tier channels on cable systems in Taiwan. This is a result of the recent re-shuffling of channel positions by the Government Information Office in a move to better serve viewers' interests.

Turner Intl Asia Pacific VP Greater China Ringo Chan said, "We are pleased that CNN International is selected as the only international news network amongst the top tier channels. The new arrangement not only reaffirms CNN's leading position in the market but also gives the network an even more competitive edge in reaching the viewers."

At locations where Channel number five is blocked for specific purposes, CNN International will be available on Channel No.6.
