MUMBAI: This is an initiative that seeks to give the American soap opera an Asian twist. CBS is believed to have ordered the script for Red Doors, a drama about a suburban Chinese-American family with three daughters.
Media reports state that the series is being billed not just as a comedy/drama, but also a soap. Red Doors is based on the award-winning indie film, the feature debut of writer-director Georgia Lee.
A few years ago CBS had developed a sitcom which was based on the comedy My Big Fat Greek Wedding. However the show which was called My Big Fat Greek Life failed to click with viewers.
