Disney’s My School Rocks’ comes to Mumbai

MUMBAI: Disney Channel’s ‘My School Rocks,‘ the interschool dance competition inspired by the channel’s own programme High School Musical 2, commenced its search in Mumbai after doing the rounds of Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

The Mumbai round, which will be the last in the series, will conclude on 28 November, channel officials stated.

Shiamak Davar will now choose the eight finalists representing each of these cities. The vignettes of these finalists’ performances would be aired on Disney Channel for viewers to vote for their favorite performance.

The winning school team, chosen on the basis of an audience poll and Davar’s points, will get the opportunity to star in a music video to be choreographed by Davar on one of the songs from High School Musical 2, and will be aired on the Disney Channel.

Walt Disney Television International (India) SVP and MD Antoine Villeneuve said, High School Musical 2 has attempted to localise the content for Indian viewers, and My School Rocks’ offers kids an unique nationwide opportunity to express themselves and celebrate teamwork.

In India, Times Music recently released the High School Musical 2 soundtrack, providing teenagers and families in India with the opportunity to experience songs from the sequel, each re-recorded in Hindi with Indian instruments.

The highlight for India is that the soundtrack includes three songs in Hindi created by leading music trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and remixed tracks by DJ Suketu.

High School Musical 2 is set to premiere across India on Disney Channel in early December this year.
