MUMBAI: It may be a show like none other seen yet on Indian television.

Lipstick, that premieres today in a late night slot on Zee, plans to venture into untrodden territory by exploring sexual politics in supposedly high society life. A daily show (Mondays to Thursdays) based on an international format, Lipstick comes close on the heels of Kittie Party, the recently launched daily that also explores the duplicities of high life.

Says producer Shrishti Arya: "Lipstick is about a battle between two women in a corporate set up. It is more about page three culture and high society life, and the fight over a position." The show, says Arya, was given to her production house, Rose Movies, by the channel which wanted to develop the concept. The 11 pm slot is intended to get in only the adult viewers who can handle the sensitive topics of mind games and sexual politics and alternate sexuality which will be dealt with on the show.

Written by Sajeev Kapoor and directed by Bhushan Patel (who has earlier directed Sonpari for Star Plus), the show stars relative newcomers Shweta Salve and Nigaar Khan, who adorn the hoardings that Zee has put up across metros. Both exude a sensuality that goes well with the provocative title of the show and as Arya says, "Its about real people and real lives that we aspire to."
