Vijay TV presents dance fest 'Natyanjali'

MUMBAI: Navratri special on Vijay TV is festival of dance. Vijay TV has organised a dance recital 'Natyanjali' at Image auditorium on 9, 10, and 11 Oct 2004.

The channel will be telecasting the nine part series from 15 October to 23 October 2004 at 6 pm on weekdays and at 7 pm during weekends to celebrate Navaratri.

Playing on the theme of Navaratri festival- nine days of celebration dedicated to worship of the goddess Sakthi in her three forms - Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathi, 'Natyanjali' features heroines from the film and television industry performing classical dance recitals.

The well known classical danseuses from Tamil film and television industry like Sukanya, Rubini, Swarnamalya, Malavika, Manju Bhargavi and Keerthana have performed classical dance recitals each depicting a facet of Goddess Sakthi.

Amongst the star performers, Sukanya was introduced by Bharathiraja in the movie Puthu Nellu Puthu Nathu and has acted in many hit films like China Gownder, and Walter Vetrivel etc. She has learnt the art of classical dance from the renowned Kalakshetra school and has been conferred the title of Kalaimamani, says a company release.

While Rubini and Keerthana have been in the industry for a long time and have acted with many popular heroes like Ajith, Kamal Hasan and Rajinikant. They are set to perform a full length classical dance recital for the first time on television.

Swarnamalya and Malavika are popular faces on Tamil television starring in many programmes. Swarnamalya, the damsel in the movie Engal Anna began dancing from the tender age of 12 and as for Malavika, the star of K.Balachander's Anni; with a degree in law, Bharatnatyam to her is a passion. While Shankarabaranam fame Manju Bhargavi mesmerised the Chennaites with her graceful moves in Bharatnatyam.
