Yahoo acquires TV start-up IntoNow

MUMBAI: In a move that would boost the Internet giant’s social media platforms, Yahoo Inc has acquired social TV start-up IntoNow for an undisclosed amount.

In a statement announcing the acquisition of IntoNow, Yahoo said, ” The four-month old firm IntoNow is a start-up that enables users to identify and share television programmes with their friends.

Once the programme is identified, it is easy to share with user’s friends on social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook. It can detect TV shows or movies that are up to five years old.

Yahoo said that the addition of IntoNow will enable it to provide enhanced media experiences and video programming, bolstering its social engagement across its network.

“IntoNow’s technology combines the ability to check in to what a consumer is watching, engage in conversations and find related content,” Yahoo SVP (Global Product Management) Bill Shaughnessy observed.
