Gamespot Entertainment runs cricket carnival on thefanstation.com

MUMBAI: Media IPR company, Gamespot Entertainment, is running a 48-hour cricket carnival on its FanStation site.

The company created thefanstation.com to celebrate the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) by getting fans closer to the event. It did this in association with Coca-Cola. Now its new initiative in the form of a 48-hour carnival is celebrating the bat and ball game.

Gamespot Entertainment CEO Dhruv Bonnerjee said that the carnival has 10 contests, including a photo contest. This contest has two themes - Gully Cricket and Drinks Break. Fans have to submit photos of these themes. Winners get T-Shirts, Coffee Mugs, Life-Size Bats, Miniature Bats and Cricket Balls autographed by cricketers like Gautam Gambhir, Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, Irfan Pathan and Yousuf Pathan.

Bonnerjee says that during the course of the IPL the fanstation site got 200,000 page views.

What is next in store for thefanstation? Bonnerjee says that the company is looking at other cricket series. "We are also looking at soccer and F1. While these are niche sports, we can build a loyal community for them online. Fans of these sports are passionate about them."
