Chad Hurley to quit as YouTube CEO, stay on as adviser

MUMBAI: YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley has decided to step down as the company’s CEO, the company has announced. He would, however, continue to be with the video streaming giant as an adviser.

Hurley, 33, and his partner, Steve Chen, sold the site to Google for $1.65 billion. Chen left YouTube in 2008 to work on other Google projects.

Said Hurley in a statement, "For the last two years, I had taken on more of an advisory role at YouTube as Salar Kamangar has led the company‘s day-to-day operations. I will continue to serve as an adviser and am excited to witness the next phase of YouTube‘s growth."
