AOL acquires tech site TechCrunch

MUMBAI: AOL has purchased popular tech news site TechCrunch and its network of websites for an undisclosed amount.

An official announcement in this regard was made at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco.
 
In a statement, AOL Chairman and CEO Tim Armstrong said that the acquisition of TechCrunch Inc. will further strengthen AOL’s position as it pushes to become the premier destination online for tech related news. 
 
Said R=TechCrunch founder Michael Arrington, “Tim Armstrong and his team have an exciting vision for the future of AOL as a global leader in creating and delivering world-class content to consumers, be it through original content creation, partnerships or acquisitions.”

TechCrunch will be headquartered in San Francisco and the editorial control will be maintained from there.
