MIP-TV witnesses 100 prod of Francophone countries

MUMBAI: One hundred TV productions of Francophonie countries of the South are participating at the MIP-TV in Cannes. The event which is starting on 29 March will go on till 2 April 2004.

Six private television producing companies from five various French speaking countries of the South have been invited by inter governmental agency of Francophonie to present and promote their latest productions which consist of a total of one hundred documentaries, fiction and cartoon series. The Countries include Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Egypt, Democratic Republic of Congo and Tunisia.

The agency participating for the seventh time in the MIP-TV has launched a programme of screening African films in rural areas in 2001 for the African audience and also gives a yearly special grant to one selected film to be promoted through an international marketing campaign.

In partnership with the International Council of French speaking radios and televisions (Cirtef), national television of several African francophone countries will also be present on the stand set by the Agency.
