MIB issues advisory to private TV channels to consider showing castings/credit/ titles in Indian languages

The step has been taken to promote Indian languages.

MIB

MUMBAI: In a move to make TV serials more understandable for mass audience, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has advised all private satellite TV channels to consider displaying the castings or credits or titles of Hindi and regional language TV serials in the respective languages also.

“To promote Indian languages we are asking TV channels to also give titles in their programmes in the Indian language in which they broadcast,” Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said.

In the release, MIB said it has noticed that several Hindi and regional language TV channels display the castings or credits or titles only in English. According to the ministry, this practice tends to deprive people versed with Hindi and regional languages of the valuable information about casting of TV serials/programmes.
