Delhi HC notice to Centre on writs filed against BCCI

NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court today issued notice to the Centre on an application alleging that it has taken contradictory stands on the maintainability of writ petitions filed against Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) before the Supreme Court and the High Court.

A bench comprising Chief Justice B C Patel and Justice S K Kaul also issued notices to the Centre and the BCCI on another application seeking Action Taken Report on the vision document released by BCCI in April 2000, Press Trust of India reports.

The court asked them to file a reply within two weeks and fixed the next date of hearing on 13 April.

The applications were filed by advocate Rahul Mehra on whose writ petition the High Court on 4 October had ruled that function of BCCI was amenable to the jurisdiction of the court under Article 226 of the Constitution so far it was performing the public duty, the news agency reported.
