Unique Floating Cinema launched to coincide with IFFI

PANAJI: The first ever floating cinema theatre, "Shayana Flotoplex‘ has been launched here for viewers to enjoy good cinema they cruise in the Mandovi River.

The theatre, which has a seating capacity of 70 and a 120 sq ft screen, was launched by film director Shekhar Kapoor in the presence of Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and Entertainment Society of Goa CEO Manoj Srivastava. "The Silent National Anthem" was screened soon after the inauguration.

Speakers appreciated the concept saying it was an innovative idea making good use of natural resources.

The screen is on a wooden dhow that floats in the backwaters, said Suraj Mirashi, who has conceived the theatre.

Indian Panorama Films are being screened on the boat with donation coupons available at Royal Cruise Office boat centre (below Mandovi bridge) Panaji.
