Breakaway to have its world premiere at Toronto fest

MUMBAI: Akshay Kumar‘s Breakaway will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this year.

The film is a cross-cultural hockey drama set in the Indo-Canadian community in suburban Toronto. The action-filled sports comedy also shows a lot about Canada‘s favourite sport, hockey. It, thus, becomes the second Bollywood film to highlight the sport since Chak De! India.

Directed by Robert Lieberman, the film marks the debut of Vinay Virmani who plays the lead. It also stars Hollywood actor Rob Lowe and Anupam Kher.

Akshay Kumar and music artistes Drake, RDB and Ludacris make guest appearances in the film that will release on 30 September.

The Toronto International Film Festival will run from 8 to 18 September.
