Bilingual film with Dhoni as role model

MUMBAI: Film folks are known to emulate others in the trade. Taking a cue from I Am Kalam, Dr Venkat, under his banner of RR Movie Makers, has decided to make a bilingual (Tamil, Telugu) titled Dhoni.

The film will be based on a child’s aspiration to become like Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Tentatively titled Dhoni, the film will be directed by Prakash Raj, who played a baddie in Salman Khan’s Wanted and Amitabh Bachchan’s Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap among others.

Averred Raj, “Dhoni is our new cricketing icon. He is already a legend among the kids and they want to grow up to be like him. He stands for leadership, taking risks and being grounded in the face of victory and failure alike. He is a perfect role model for today’s youth.”

According to Raj, his film will also talk about how the present education system has failed. “It talks about academic and peer pressure. This system doesn’t explore what our children are capable of. We need to take into account the aspirations of the new generation as well. The film will force people to look within themselves.”

Having produced over a dozen films, Raj has acted for two decades in South films. He had earlier directed the Kannada film Naanu Nanna Kanasu.
