Delhi Belly to open London Fest

MUMBAI: The second edition of the London Indian Film Festival (LIFF) will open with Aamir Khan‘s Delhi Belly on 30 June.

The festival that will go on till 12 July in London will celebrate the burgeoning era of alternative Indian cinema where films go beyond song and dance-based entertainment.

"In addition to showing great movies, we also aim to help get these films talked about and screened more broadly in cinemas in Britain, in the same way that Iranian cinema has been. London, of course, has a huge Asian audience for these movies, but many non-Asian Britons would also like to find out more about the 1.2 billion strong India of today, and cinema is a great way to do this," said festival director Cary Rajinder Sawhney.

Following the opening night screening of Delhi Belly, the festival will go on to showcase the work of filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap and Rituparno Ghosh.

The Ritupano Ghosh-directed film Autograph will close the film festival on 12 July.
