Rishi Kapoor wins best actor award at NYIFF

MUMBAI: Rishi Kapoor has won the best actor award at the 11th New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) that concluded on 8 May in Manhattan.

The festival, which started on 4 May, chose the Arjun Gourisaria and Moinak Biswas-directed Sthaniya Sambaad (Spring in the Colony) as the best feature film, while Abhay Kumar’s Just That Sort of a Day won the best short film. The Max Carlson-directed Bhopali was adjudged the best documentary.

Other awardees include Aparna Sen as best director for Iti Mrinalini, Konkona Sen Sharma as best actress and Mohan Raghavan’s T.D. Dasan Std. VI B for best screenplay.

While Habib Faisal directed Do Dooni Chaar opened the festival, Rituparno Ghosh’s Nauka Dubi was the closing film.
