Action director Sham Kaushal nominated for stunt award

MUMBAI: The tenth edition of the World Taurus Stunt Award, to be held in California on 15 May, has nominated noted action director Sham Kaushal for best stunt.

The stunt director, who has to his credit films like Slumdog Millionaire, has been nominated for Mani Ratnam‘s film Raavan. He is the Indian coordinator for Mission Impossible 4 that also stars Anil Kapoor.

Said Kaushal, "It is considered to be the Oscars for the stunt community, and I am glad that a film from India has got nominated in the foreign film category. I am grateful to Mani Ratnam and all my actors, including Abhishek Bachchan, who were very courageous and performed daredevil stunts for the film. Of course, the biggest contribution was from my stunt team.‘‘

From a humble origin to becoming one of the most popular and sought after action directors in Hindi film industry, Kaushal has come a long way in his 27-year career. With a good number of awards in his kitty, he won the prestigious Oscar for Slumdog Millionare. He has also worked in super hits like Kkrish, Kaminey, Rajneeti besides Raavan.
