MUMBAI: Rovio Mobile‘s Angry Birds Rio, the movie-branded follow-up of mobile mega hit Angry Birds, was downloaded 10 million times in 10 days since its 22 March release.

The Angry Birds mobile game has had downloads of more than 100 million downloads in the last 16 months.

In Angry Birds, players use the touchscreen of the iPhone or Android smartphone to slingshot cute Angry Bird characters at evil green pigs, who have stolen the birds‘ eggs. Destroying the bird‘s fortresses with the birds gets harder and harder as the physics of the attacks becomes more complicated.

The Angry Birds Rio game is a new version that includes characters from Rio, the 3D animated film that is slated to release in India on 8 April in both English and Hindi versions.
