Maharashtra govt exempts Hum Dono from entertainment tax

MUMBAI: In a move that will allow people at large to view Dev Anand’s 1961 classic Hum Dono in colour, the government of Maharashtra has exempted the film of entertainment tax.

The exemption will bring down the ticket prices of the coloured film that is running in theatres for the last seven weeks.

It is said that a review committee saw the film recently, liked it a lot and made it tax free.

The classic about love and sacrifice, starring Dev Anand, Nanda and Sadhana, was the last black and white film from Navketan in which he played a double role for the first time.

The film is remembered for its songs like ‘Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya‘ and ‘Abhi na jaao chhodkar.‘
