MUMBAI: Liberty Media‘s Starz LLC has agreed to sell its 25 per cent stake of Starz Media including Anchor Bay Entertainment and the Starz Digital Media arm to the Weinstein Co. By this, both the companies have teamed up to impact home entertainment.

Starz, which now has DVD, Blu-ray, and Internet streaming rights of movies by the Weinstein Company, is in the process of making deals with the Weinstein Company and Netflix concerning streaming video for their channel. The company also has earlier got into certain distribution deals with Sony and Disney studios.

Separately, Anchor Bay has signed a multi-year U.S. home video and digital distribution agreement for new theatrical content from Weinstein and its Dimension Films label.

While not including TV rights, the deal spans Blu-ray, DVD and VOD, pay-per-view and digital distribution and covers up to 20 TWC and Dimension titles per year including The King‘s Speech, Blue Valentine and Company Men.
