Mumbai: News18 Assam & Northeast, India’s media network, organised a walkathon on 26 March at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati, to raise awareness on gender equality and the role of technology in achieving it. The theme of the walkathon was ‘Digit ALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality’, aligning with the current theme of International Women's Day 2023. The event began at 5 AM and had the participants walk together for three kilometres, with participants from different walks of life joining hands to promote gender equality.
The event was graced by Angoorlata Deka, an actress and politician from Assam, who thanked News18 Assam Northeast for the initiative. She also emphasised the need for everyone, regardless of gender, to work together to promote respectful equality. Another guest was Mahadev Deka of Assam, who won the Universe 2009 title in the bantamweight category at the 2009 Musclemania Superbody world championship held in Florida from June 18-21.

The walkathon was a significant step towards promoting gender equality in the region, and News18 Assam & Northeast is proud to have organised the event. The walkathon witnessed an overwhelming response from the citizens of Guwahati, who came together to support the cause.
