Cartoon Network pays tribute to animation legend Chuck Jones

Animation genuis Chuck Jones passed away on 22 February and Cartoon Network has lined up a weekend programming special section devoted to his work.

His contribution to the animation industry is one for the history books and Cartoon Network's weekend fare features many of his masterpieces. The programmes will air 2 March from 8-10 am, 8-10 pm and 3 March from 8-10 am and 8-11 pm.

During a career spanning more than 60 years, Jones made over 300 animated films. He created cartoon classics like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, The tributes that will air include a combination of recognised shorts from the Tom and Jerry series, the Warner Bros. collection of Looney Tunes and Bugs Bunny episodes plus the Bugs Bunny Road Runner Movie. Jones was also the recipient of an honorary Oscar for Lifetime Achievement.

Chuck Jones was one of five people who created and brought to life the famous Warner Bros. characters - Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and Porky Pig. He also personally created Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Marvin Martian among others. He is best known for his work on the Looney Tunes cartoon series. He also directed the Academy Award winning film The Dot and the Line. Last year Jones was inducted into the Animation Hall of Fame in Los Angeles.
