MUMBAI: If you thought that the soaps were the only never-ending series on television, think again. Ponpulari, the morning show on Surya TV, produced by Panorama Television, has crossed the 1,000 plus episode mark.
The various segments on Ponpulari include Innaththe Shabdam, a face to face with eminent people from different walks of life; Sindooram on housewives who had attained fame in some or the other field; Kashaayam, a satirical segment by noted satirist Sukumar; Kannada, a literary magazine; Jeevanam about Ayurveda, herbs et al, Veettukaaryam on traditional architecture; Aalaapanam, which to teach music to students; Smrithisudha, which comprised old Malayalam film songs; Pets Time, on pets and Jyothishareshmi, on astrology .
The show, which began in 1998, became a five days per week show in December 1999 and a six-days show in March 2002.
