Sahara One remains upbeat on 'Buniyaad'

Sahara One

MUMBAI: Can old still deliver ratings gold? The jury is still out on that one but Sahara One must certainly feel encouraged by the first week's numbers delivered by that timeless television classic Buniyaad, which is having a second innings on the channel.

The show, which launched 5 February, has started well and by the fourth episode (8 February) had managed a 0.9 TVR in the HSM, C&S 4+, TAM data provided by the channel reveals.

That translates to 1.23 million viewers in just the fourth episode, the channel asserts. It proved particularly popular in Uttar Pradesh, where it had a 4.6 TVR. According to the channel, among the TGs that have responded particularly well to the show are the young (CS 4-14-year-olds) and viewers from SEC D/E.

Says Sahara One COO Purnedu Bose, "Clearly, Buniyaad is a well thought out programming strategy, which offers width and depth of programming on Sahara One Television and it is a property that will probably repeat its success story once again."

Buniyaad first ran on the national network DD and mesmerized a generation then. That the classic has started well and has managed to strike a chord two decades after its original release is a tale in itself.
