MUMBAI: Hungama TV has acquired telecast rights for 10 Hindi movies from the Children's Film Society of India (CFSI).
UTV's kids channel will launch a week-long film festival called Hungama ka filmi kamal with these movies, ending on the children's day (14 November).
Hungama TV already airs international movies in the dubbed Hindi version at the 9 PM slot. "CFSI has a sound bank of children's movies which the Indian kids have not been exposed to. They have seen more Hollywood movies. We hope to attract them with our local fare," says Hungama TV COO Purnendu Bose.
The festival will kick off with Lagi (directed by Raghuvir Kulkarni) on 7 November. This will be followed by Kabhi Paas Kabhi Fail (directed by Veerender Saini), Sixer (Gulbahar Singh), Ek Ajooba (Sunil Advani), Katt Katt Kad Kaddu (Jayashree Kanal) and Maali (Santosh Sivan). There will be a repeat on the following day, at 2:45 pm. The scheduling of three movies is yet to be decided.
Hungama TV will also air interactive contests during the movie break. The channel will run promos of the festive pack from 5 November onwards.
