UTV to launch two shows on DD

MUMBAI: Production house UTV, currently one of the major software suppliers to Star Plus, is going back to Doordarshan by November.
On the cards is a Sunday morning comedy for the national channel, according to UTV CEO Ronnie Screwvala. A thriller at prime time, thrice a week for DD National, will also commence by November.
UTV had reduced its presence on the pubcaster for a while after producing the long running blockbuster Shanti on DD for the afternoon band in 1994.
The production house shifted its focus to satellite channels thereafter, particularly to Star Plus, on which it has an increasing presence by way of afternoon soaps Shagun and Bhabhi, kids' show Shaka Laka Boom Boom and prime time shows Khichdi and Kehta Hai Dil.
Shaka Laka..., which incidentally had been handed over to the Goldie Behl-Shrishti Arya promoted Rose Movies for production of a few episodes, has now been handed back to UTV, says Screwvala.
